Description
The metal framed print is a reproduction of a famous Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock print titled Young Woman Blowing a Glass Pipe (also known as Poppin-fuki or Blowing the poppin) by the renowned artist Kitagawa Utamaro. The Japanese characters in the image refer to the artwork's title/artist's signature. Kitagawa Utamaro (c. 1753–1806),was a master of the ukiyo-e genre, specializing in bijinga (pictures of beautiful women). The print depicts a young woman in a kimono delicately blowing into a poppin, a glass toy pipe that makes a popping sound. The original woodblock print was created around 1792 during the Edo period in Japan. Good condition.
