Description
A framed reproduction of the famous ancient Egyptian "Meidum Geese" painting. This painting is considered a masterpiece of the ancient Egyptian animal genre and is nicknamed "Egypt's Mona Lisa". The artwork is a fragment of a wall painting discovered in 1871 in the mastaba (tomb) of the vizier Nefermaat and his wife Itet at the archaeological site of Meidum, Egypt. It dates to the 4th Dynasty of the Old Kingdom, during the reign of King Sneferu (circa 2600 BCE). The painting depicts six geese in two symmetrical groups, feeding among tufts of grass. The artist used natural pigments and a technique involving incisions filled with colored paste, which unfortunately had a tendency to crack over time.
