Description

This framed artwork is a signed piece by the renowned American enamelist Fred Uhl Ball. It consists of multiple tiles of enameled copper, assembled into a large collage titled "Soft White Bessies" from 1973. Fred Uhl Ball was a prominent and innovative artist best known for pushing the boundaries of enamel on copper, creating both small panels and large-scale public murals. His pieces, like the one pictured, typically consist of numerous small, individually fired enamel-on-copper tiles assembled into collage-like panels using materials like brads and staples on a backing board. He experimented with firing methods and color variations produced by different heat levels. The abstract, organic shapes and iridescent colors in this piece are characteristic of his unique style. Some of his works are described as interpretations of aerial views of the Sacramento River. His artwork is held in museum collections, including the Smithsonian American Art Museum. This lot includes a certificate of authenticity from his estate. H: 39" | W: 32" Good condition.
