Description
A vintage framed tin advertising sign for Egyptian Deities Cigarettes. This brand was produced by S. Anargyros and was known for its "orientalist" marketing style. The brand's slogan was "People of culture, refinement and education invariably prefer Deities to any other cigarette". The advertisement's artwork, featuring a woman in Egyptian-style attire, famously inspired American dancer Ruth St. Denis to create her own unique dance concept after seeing the poster in 1904. The signs and advertisements for the brand often referenced Egyptian antiquities and splendor. H: 46" | W: 33" Good condition.
