Description
A Chinese wood statue of Shouxing, also known as Shou Lao, the Chinese stellar god of longevity. Shouxing is one of the three star gods of happiness, alongside Fu (fortune) and Lu (prosperity). He is depicted with a long beard and a prominent forehead, which represents wisdom. The statue holds a staff and a peach, both of which are symbols of longevity and immortality. The carving also features a small child, which is another common element in depictions of Shouxing. Figurine rests on a darker carved wood base. Measurement is 10" and condition is good.
