This vintage Sarreid Ltd. covered decorative box exemplifies the brand’s early commitment to handcrafted global artistry. Founded in 1967 by Alex Sarratt and Walter Reid after discovering skilled Spanish artisans, Sarreid quickly became known for blending old-world craftsmanship with rich materials sourced from around the world—and this piece reflects that legacy. The box features hand-painted porcelain panels decorated with colorful floral and bird motifs on a white crackle-glaze ground, influenced by traditional Chinoiserie aesthetics. These panels are framed by elaborate gilded metal mounts in a European Rococo style, including sculpted claw-form feet, ornate scroll handles, a decorative pineapple-style finial, and a sturdy metal hinge on the lid.
