Description
A Chinese cloisonné vase featuring a rich, dark red floral design with blue, green, and gold accents. The vase has stylized peonies, which symbolize wealth and honor in Chinese culture, set against a deep red background. Cloisonné is an intricate and labor-intensive art form that involves partitioning a metal surface with thin wires into compartments, which are then filled with colored enamel and fired multiple times. The vase uses the traditional Chinese cloisonné technique (known as Jingtailan in China) on a brass or copper base. The surface is smooth to the touch, and the designs are outlined by thin metal wires. The rim and base are finished with gilded brass. Good condition.
