Description
Signed lithograph by Jovan Obican, numbered 126/1000. Print depicting a young girl and boy sitting on what appears to be a bird cage with the boy holding numerous birds and the girl holding one bird and a bouquet of flowers. The artist's signature is on the bottom right of the print. It is framed with glass and has a wire attached to the back for hanging. Measures 28" tall and 20" long. Besides very light small scratch on upper left corner of the metal frame, this piece is in great condition. Jovan Obican (1918-1986) was a French painter and lithographer best known for his depictions of folklore and traditional costumes rendered in a playful, childlike style. He often used bright colors and black outlines in his renderings of figures and animals, giving his work an illustration-like quality.
