Description
The kalimba is a musical instrument that is part of the Mbira family of instruments from Zimbabwe. The Kalimba consists of a series of metal tines mounted on a hollow body, in this case a gourd. When the metal tines are plucked they produce a sound that is amplified by the hollow instrument. Instruments like these first became popular in the 1960s and 1970s, and notable musicians like Maurice White of Earth, Wind and Fire. This instrument measures approximately 7.5” tall and 5.5” in diameter. This item is in good condition.
