Description
This is a vintage ceramic beer stein with a pewter lid, made by Handarbeit in Germany. The stein is hand-painted and features the phrase “Ruh Hast Du Nur In Der Schenke” written along the bottom. This phrase translates to “You only have peace in the tavern.” The scene depicts a chivalrous knight and some men-at-arms engaging in a fight with their weapons raised. One man is escaping through a window into what could be the tavern, hence the phrase. The stein measures approximately 9” tall and 3.75” in diameter, and is in good condition.
