Description
Lot of three Rooster of Barcelos Painted Metal Figurines. The Rooster of Barcelos is sold as a souvenir from Portugal. The folk tale of the Rooster of Barcelos tells the story of a dead rooster's miraculous intervention in proving the innocence of a man who had been falsely convicted and sentenced to death. The Barcelos Rooster is known as the national symbol of Faith, Justice, Good fortune and Love. There is one large rooster (6.75" tall with 1.5" base diameter) and two small roosters (3" tall with 1" base diameter). Measurements are in approximations. There are spots where the paint is chipped or peeling, otherwise good condition.
