Description
This is a carved figurine of a flower with leaves carved from a single piece of soapstone. Soapstone (also known as Steatite) is a metamorphic rock that consists primarily of talc. Depending on the quarry from which it is sourced, this natural stone also contains varying amounts of other minerals such as micas, chlorite, amphiboles, quartz, magnesite, and carbonates. Soapstone is also a very soft stone, and can be scratched with a fingernail. This carved figurine features intricate details like the individual petals of the flower, and also has a painted base carved from the same material. This figurine measures approximately 3.75” tall, and is in good condition.
