Description
COINS OF THE UNITED STATES IN MINIATURE" COLLECTION FROM THE FRANKLIN MINT Being offered is a rare full set of miniature coins produced by the Franklin Mint for collectors in 1980. The set contains one of every type of coin minted by the United States from 1792, when the United States Mint was located by Congress in Philadelphia, up through the Susan B. Anthony dollar, first minted in 1979. Many of the coins we still use today are represented, for examples: the Washington quarter, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, and Lincoln penny. Of the 146 finely crafted and individually minted coins: 92 are composed of 100% Sterling Silver 31 are solid Sterling with Gold electroplate 17 are Copper 6 are Cupro-Nickel The metal used for each coin approximates the actual material composition of the original full-size coins. The set comes in its original metal presentation case, lined with blue felt, with a molded 'nest' for each coin. The leatherette finish of the case has some minor discolorations. There is a clear, ridged plastic protector sheet designed to hold the coins in place when the case is closed. Included is a separate box that holds a magnified viewer, a set of tweezers for handling the small coins, and a small magnifying glass. Additionally, there is a nicely printed informational card for each individual coin, with a picture and all the details of its history, design, and composition. There are two missing coins. Everything else in the set is complete and in good condition.
