Description
This is an authentic boomerang made by Queensland Aboriginal Creations. Boomerangs are thrown tools typically constructed with aerofoil sections and designed to spin about an axis perpendicular to the direction of its flight. Boomerangs come in two varieties: returning and non-returning. Returning boomerangs are designed to return to the thrower, while non-returning boomerangs are often designed as weapons that are meant to be thrown straight. The aboriginal people of Australia often use non-returning boomerangs as hunting tools. This particular boomerang is carved from a single piece of wood, and features an aboriginal painted design that features stripes and a depiction of a kangaroo. Underneath the boomerang an official seal sticker of the Queensland Department of Community Services, making this an authentic piece. The boomerang measures approximately 16” x 6”, and is in good condition.
