Description
Makonde Shetani Carved African Blackwood Figurine. The Makonde artisans of Africa create art influenced by traditional myths, and many carvings are derived from the myth of the native Shetani, a spirit. Shetani is a word used to describe creatures that are difficult to identify. The Shetani can take on many forms and are commonly represented as a person, an animal form, or spirit, quite often in an abstract manner. This figurine measures approximately 7.5" tall with 2"x 2.5" base. Good condition.
