Description
The guiro is a percussion instrument consisting of an open-ended, hollow gourd with parallel notches cut in one side. It is played by rubbing a stick or tines along the notches to produce a ratchet sound. This style of instrument is very popular in Latin America and the Caribbean, especially in Puerto Rico, Cuba, Costa Rica, and Mexico. This guiro features a design that resembles a fish, and comes with a rubbing stick. The guiro itself measures approximately 14.5” long and 3.25” in diameter at its widest. The guiro is in good condition, and comes with a tag that states “Made in Mexico”.
