Description
Set of two Brass Gimbal Sconce Candleholders. One of the candleholders has maker's mark "Baldwin, Forged in America" on the base. A gimbal sconce was originally used on ships, where it could be hung on a wall or used on a tabletop. As the ship swayed, the hinged candleholder also swayed, ensuring the candle would stay in the upright position. The Baldwin measures approximately 7" tall with 6" base diameter, the unmarked candlestick measures approximately 5.5" tall with 6" base diameter. There are some spots and marks. Overall good condition.
