Description
This is a African style banana leaf scultpure that depicts a Baobab tree surrounded by a family of elephants. In Africa, the Baobab tree is considered a symbol of life, and is often called the "tree of life". In Nairobi's Banana Hill suburb, artisans utilize the fiber of banana palm trees, which grow prolifically in East Africa, to create whimsical gifts for local sale and export. This piece measures approximately 9" in diameter and 7" tall, and is in good condition.
