Description
Five blue-and-white ceramic plates led by a Royal Essex Shakespeare’s Country ironstone plate depicting Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, with a swirl-fluted rim. The others are a matching pair of coaching-inn scenes, a rural horse-and-cart scene and a Blue Willow plate. The Royal Essex plate is marked Made in England, and one other plate carries a Royal Wessex Made in England backstamp. The Royal Essex reverse has extensive glaze crazing; a small residue spot is visible on another plate’s back rim.
