Description
Weighted sterling silver compote by Elgin Silversmith Co., a New York maker from 1946 to 1976, marked under the foot STERLING, CEMENT FILLED, REINFORCED WITH ROD and EL-SIL-CO. The shallow bowl has a pierced border inside a gadrooned rim on a tapered stem and stepped round foot; the underside of the foot has dents. Total weight 202 g, including the cement-filled base.
