Description
Two Japanese porcelain plates with gilt rims, each decorated with a Heian court poet portrait captioned in black brush script: the poetess Kodai no Kimi (小大君) in layered court robes with long black hair, and Oshikochi no Mitsune (captioned 躬恒) as a seated courtier in a russet robe with roundels. Both are among the Thirty-Six Immortals of Poetry. Each has a red square seal mark reading 行宗 on the back.
