Description
Japanese cloth doll of a tanuki (raccoon dog) pinned to a dark-stained square wooden stand, with a hand-painted face, gold-foil-lined ears, a woven conical hat, a red and silver floral brocade vest and a gold tasseled cord. It holds a cream sake flask stamped with the character for sake in one paw and a green leaf sprig in the other, with a folded ledger tucked beside the head.
