Description
Canadian Inuit carving from Sanikiluaq (Belcher Islands) in banded gray-green argillite: a seated woman in a parka, her hair parted and her dotted hood lying back across her shoulders, with chevron-incised braids falling to her chest. She holds a small tool with a dotted handle in her left hand, and stippled and scale-patterned forms lie across her lap. Clover motifs, dots and fine hatching are incised front and back. Incised A1096 on the base, with its Canada Eskimo Art igloo tag.
