Description
Terracotta haniwa of a man playing the koto, handmade by Honbu Haniwa Seisakusho, the Miyazaki City workshop founded by haniwa maker Honbu Masa. Modeled on Kofun-period tomb figures, the seated musician wears a banded cap, long side locks, a bead necklace and a zigzag-patterned belt, and rests on a hollow cylindrical base. Stamped with the workshop's circled "ホ" (ho) mark.
