Description
Pair of 20th-century Italian glazed earthenware circular wall plaques, each fitted with a twisted-wire hanging loop. The larger presents a white-glazed Madonna in profile against a powder-blue ground within a polychrome relief wreath of fruit and foliage in the della Robbia revival manner; the smaller depicts a striped-costume bather against a powder-blue ground under an ivory craquelure glaze. The smaller is inscribed to the reverse "15" and "ITALY" with an incised cross.
