Description
Original acrylic on canvas by David Garibaldi (American, b. 1982), the South Sacramento-raised performance painter best known for his 'Rhythm and Hue' live-painting act and a 2012 America's Got Talent finalist; this monumental canvas dates to 2004, the early period when Garibaldi was painting live at urban jazz sessions and nightclubs. The stylized scene fills a brick-walled club with an elongated pianist, a vocalist in a red dress, an upright bassist, balcony onlookers, and a floor of swaying dancers beneath cone-lit lamps, with a painted banner reading 'WELCOME TO THE ROCKING CHAIR JAZZ CLUB.' Signed with the artist's circled graffiti-script 'GARIBALDI!' mark and dated 2004 at lower left. Unframed gallery-stretched canvas on a cross-braced wooden stretcher with dark-painted edges. Good condition; no tears, punctures, or paint losses observed, with only light handling wear to the edges. Canvas measures approximately 60 in. wide x 72 in. high.
