Description
Two 19th-century English papier-mâché japanned trays with black grounds and gilt decoration: a scalloped petal-edge dish with a gilt chinoiserie washing scene, and an oblong pen tray with a bronze-and-gilt foliate floral border. No maker's mark is present; in the manner of Birmingham/Wolverhampton makers such as Jennens & Bettridge.
