Description
An original mid-century modernist figural sculpture by Curtis Jeré (C. Jeré), titled "Boy Flying Kite with Dog" (circa late 1960s to 1970s). The whimsical design depicts a young boy flying a kite that has gotten stuck on the crossarms of a utility/telephone pole, while his dog plays nearby. Constructed from patinated cast bronze and welded mixed metals. The thin wire functions as the kite string connecting the boy to the pole. The entire scene is mounted onto a raw, heavy natural stone base, typically made from quartz or onyx. "C. Jeré" is the shared pseudonym of artists Curtis Freiler and Jerry Fels, who founded Artisan House in 1963. While best known for brutalist wall art, their freestanding narrative sculptures of children are highly collectible.
