Description
A vintage silver-plated scallop shell centerpiece platter with integrated multi-use holders, manufactured mid-to-late 20th century by The Sheffield Silver Co.. It is shaped like a fluted, scalloped sea shell. It functions as a serving dish for seafood cocktail, shrimp, caviar, chips, or appetizers. Features a central ring holding a raised metal cup (often paired with a glass liner insert as seen here) meant for cocktail sauce, dip, or savory spreads. Two small matching cylinders flank the central well. These serve a dual purpose depending on the occasion. Can be used as toothpick, appetizer pick, or cocktail fork holders, or to hold standard taper candles, transforming the piece into an elegant tabletop centerpiece candelabra. It is built with small integrated ornamental feet on the underside to stabilize the curved shell structure on flat surfaces. Item Specifics Brand The Sheffield Silver Co. Composition Silverplate Condition Tarnishing on the rim of the bowl and the edges of the containers.
