Description
A vintage brass coal box, which is a decorative fireplace accessory typically used to store coal, kindling, or firewood. These boxes often feature a wood interior clad in a thin, embossed layer of brass. This specific model is frequently referred to as having a "Nautical" or "Tall Ships" design, characterized by detailed relief work of sailing ships or frigates. Many of these pieces were manufactured in England and date back to the 1920s or 1940s. They are often associated with traditional Irish homes as a nostalgic "throwback" item. Beyond coal, they are used as fireside log holders, tinder boxes, or even as decorative plant stands. 15"L Good condition.
