Description
A vintage brass-clad kindling or coal box, typically used as a decorative fireside accessory for storing wood, tinder, or coal. These boxes were commonly manufactured in England, with notable makers including Peerage Brass and Lombard. These are usually wooden boxes clad in decorative repoussé (embossed) brass or copper panels. The relief scenes often depict traditional themes like horse-drawn stagecoaches, village tavern scenes, or English country life. Typical sizes are approximately 16–18 inches wide and 10–12 inches deep. While many are vintage pieces from the 1930s or earlier 20th century, some Victorian-style versions date back to the late 19th century. 15"L Please note: tarnishing present at top.
