Description
A mid-century modern glassware set that is a classic example of the "Silver Band" design, famously attributed to designer Dorothy Thorpe. The set includes a glass pitcher and two roly-poly cocktail glasses, all featuring a wide sterling silver band around the rim. Dorothy Thorpe (1901–1989) was known for her mid-century sandblasted and silver-overlaid glass. Her work became iconic for its sleek, "Mad Men" aesthetic. Genuine Thorpe pieces typically feature silver applied only at the top of the glass. Many similar sets were produced in the same era by companies like Libbey, which often used platinum instead of silver to prevent tarnishing. Features a tall glass mixing pitcher with a pinched pour spout and two roly poly tumblers. Each piece carries a wide silver band fired at the rim, with the pitcher banded broadly at the lip and the rounded tumblers banded around the upper third. 2.5"W Good condition.
