Description
Hand-thrown studio pottery vase of ovoid form with a layered dark blue and black drip glaze pooling around the shoulder. The unglazed foot is signed in marker "Dancing Dogs / Eastport, ME" beside an incised artist's cipher. Made at the Dancing Dogs Pottery & Art studio in Eastport, Maine. The studio is run by artist Al Erikson and his wife. Their gallery is located at 107 Water St., Eastport, ME. Erikson is known for hand-thrown porcelain and stoneware pieces, ranging from functional items like mugs and berry bowls to decorative vases and platters. A distinctive feature of his work is the experimentation with glazes; he often introduces a new unique glaze each year, which collectors frequently seek out. 7.5"H Good condition.
