Description
This mid-century ceramic snack set appears to be a vintage Italian "Salatini" appetizer set from the 1950s or 1960s. These sets typically feature hand-painted, whimsical illustrations on pastel ceramic dishes housed in woven wicker or rattan baskets. This specific style of illustration—sketchy figures in colorful skirts—is highly characteristic of Italian makers like Figini or Quadrifoglio. Many of these hand-painted designs are attributed to the artist Milvia. The dishes depict stylized women in voluminous skirts, set against soft pink, and lavender backgrounds. Known as a Salatini set (Italian for "savories" or "snacks"), they were designed for serving small bites like olives, nuts, or crackers. The ceramic inserts fit into custom-sized, natural woven baskets with handles, making them portable for entertaining. Undersides stamped "381 / Made in Italy," with original oval "Made in Italy" paper label affixed to the basket. 10"W x 9.5"L Good condition.
