Description
A vintage ceramic elephant designed by the Arnel’s Mold Co., a company founded in Beaverton, Oregon, in 1953. This specific model is often referred to as their "India Elephant" and is characterized by its intricate, ornate carvings that mimic traditional Indian ceremonial decorations, including a detailed headpiece and a draped blanket. Most of these pieces are made from ceramic pottery or bisqueware. During the mid-20th century, Arnel's was well-known for selling these as unglazed "bisque" pieces that hobbyists could paint and fire themselves. The style is mid-century modern with a "boho chic" or exotic flair.Underside marked "Dot". 5.5"H x 8.5"L Please note: small chip missing from one ear-see photos.
