Description
A framed color print of 'The Bear Shield' by Native American artist Marie Buchfink. The image depicts a grizzly bear above a shaman's face and a bear-paw medicine shield hung with eagle feathers. This is a color reproduction of 'The Bear Shield' by Marie Buchfink, a printmaker known for Native American and Southwestern spiritual imagery whose works have been issued as limited-edition prints, Franklin Mint collector plates, and licensed tiles and apparel. The composition centers on a grizzly bear head crowning the figure of a medicine man, set against a circular shield ornamented with trade beads, eagle feathers, and a bear-paw device, surmounted by a crossed-feather medicine wheel. The print is signed 'Buchfink 89' at lower right with a copyright symbol, consistent with a 1989 edition; no pencil signature or edition number is visible through the mat in these photographs, so this appears to be an open-edition or plate-signed issue rather than a hand-numbered limited edition. 25"H x 21"L Good condition.
