Description
Framed color reproduction of Arnold Friberg's iconic 1975 painting 'The Prayer at Valley Forge,' depicting General George Washington kneeling in the snow beside his horse. Issued as a numbered Commemorative Edition print, #1054 of 2500, by Amalphi Arts, in a black star-lined corner frame. Arnold Friberg (1913–2010) was an American illustrator best known for his religious and patriotic works, including his 15 pre-visualization paintings for Cecil B. DeMille's The Ten Commandments and this 1975 depiction of George Washington praying at Valley Forge. The original oil was created for America's bicentennial celebration and has become one of the most widely recognized images in American patriotic art, portraying Washington during the harsh winter of 1777–78 when the Continental Army was encamped at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. This example is a limited Commemorative Edition reproduction hand-numbered 1054/2500 on the publisher's certificate of authenticity affixed to the reverse, issued by Amalphi Arts in honor of the artist. The print is signed in plate 'A. 30"H x 42"L Good condition.
