Description

A matched pair of tall wrought iron floor torchères, each fitted with five candle-style electric sockets rising from a stylized urn with scrolling acanthus leaves, forged flowers, and a tripod scrolled base. Gothic Revival / Spanish Revival taste, likely mid-20th century. Each lamp is constructed of hand-worked wrought iron finished in matte black, with an architectural silhouette typical of Gothic Revival and Spanish Colonial Revival lighting produced for grand interiors from the 1920s through the mid-20th century. The candelabra head takes the form of a forged urn issuing five curving branches terminating in leaf-form bobèches and cylindrical candle covers over standard (E26) sockets; decorative detail includes applied acanthus leaves, forged rosettes, and tight C-scrolls. The slender tapered shaft is centered by a cast leaf collar and rises from a tripod foot of curled iron scrolls. Condition: Both lamps present as structurally sound with the black iron finish largely intact; minor paint rubs, light surface wear, and scattered dust are visible on the leafwork and scrolls consistent with age. Candle covers show handling wear and one wax sleeve shows drip texture. Electrical components have not been tested in these photographs.
