Description
An original 19th-century-style landscape painting, executed in oil on board or canvas. The work is housed in an ornate, Empire or Directoire-style gilt frame featuring prominent classical motifs like honeysuckle, garlands, and corner medallions. While the specific artist isn't immediately identifiable from the signature, it shares strong stylistic similarities with works by European landscape artists active between 1850 and 1900. It depicts a rural countryside scene with tall, detailed trees in the foreground, a sunlit meadow in the mid-ground, and a soft blue sky. The frame is a notable feature, with its "top-heavy" design and decorative swags typical of French or English neoclassical revival styles. 28"H x 20"W Please note: Small scratch and paint loss at frame-see photos.
