Description
A decorative lidded wooden bowl, often categorized as treenware or a vintage hand-carved wooden vessel. While this exact floral design and wide-rimmed shape appear to be a unique artisan piece, it shares similarities with several types of historical and decorative kitchenware. Similar hand-crafted wooden bowls with lids are used for serving rice, salads, or noodles. Historically, 19th-century turned and painted wooden vessels of this style were frequently used as sugar bowls. The construction suggests it is a "turned" piece, where the bowl and lid are shaped on a lathe from a single block of wood. 2.75"H x 5.75"W x 5.25"L Good condition.
