Description

An original hand-colored photograph by the listed American artist Wallace Nutting (1861–1941). Titled "The Coming Out of Rosa," it was originally published around 1912. The scene depicts a young girl named Rosa being guided outdoors by her mother on a porch framed by an arch of blooming roses. Nutting was well known for these types of "idealized" American scenes, often using antique furniture and floral arrangements to evoke a simpler, nostalgic time. Hand-tinted or hand-colored photograph. Signed in pencil by the artist on the lower right of the matting, with the title inscribed at center. This specific work is in the public domain and has been exhibited at institutions like the Fitchburg Art Museum. 11"W x 13.25"L Please note: tear at top left of matting-see photos.
