Description
An antique cast-iron flat iron, commonly known as a sad iron. These heavy irons were heated on a stove or range to press clothes before the invention of electric irons. The term "sad" is an archaic word meaning solid, referring to the heavy, solid cast-iron construction. This specific iron features decorative folk art floral painting, which is common among collectible examples. Today, such items are frequently used as decorative rustic home accents or functional doorstops. 5"H x 6"L Good condition.
