Description
A classic Luigi Onesto Murano Sommerso art glass vase from the late 20th century. Onesto is one of the most celebrated masters of the Sommerso technique, known for his ability to "submerge" vibrant, distinct layers of color within thick, heavy crystal. The Sommerso method creates the "cased" look, with layers of deep green, blue, and magenta glass suspended in a clear, teardrop-shaped outer body. This organic, fluid shape with a stylized "wave" or "drop" rim is a signature of Onesto's Oball studio in Murano, Italy. It is crafted from heavy lead crystal, which provides the exceptional clarity and light refraction seen in this vase. Luigi Onesto founded Vetreria Artistica Oball in 1978 on the island of Murano, Venice. His work is widely recognized. Signed by artist. 9"H x 7.5"W Good condition.
