Description
Art Deco dancer porcelain figurine, model B44, from the German manufacturer Hertwig & Co., produced in Katzhütte, Germany. The piece features an elegant female dancer in a flowing, pale-colored gown with deep pink or coral accents on the bodice. The base is marked with a capital "H" inside a house-shaped outline, a signature mark used by the factory between 1914 and 1945. Hertwig & Co. was founded in 1864 by Christoph Hertwig and Benjamin Beyermann. The company became well-known for producing high-quality porcelain figurines, dolls, and animal figures. In 1958, while under the East German (GDR) regime, the company was nationalized and renamed Katzhütte, though collectors still frequently refer to pieces from all eras by that name. Items featuring this mark are often Art Deco style figurines or realistic animal studies (like dogs and horses), which are highly collectible today. 10.5"H x 6"W Good condition.
