Description

A vintage Spode England single-tier tidbit or serving platter pattern number S3324-V, typically featuring the iconic Christmas Tree pattern. Earthenware or fine bone china with a metal central handle. Round serving tray used for cookies, appetizers, or desserts. The code S3324 indicates this is the most common version of the pattern, featuring a narrow green band on the rim. It was first introduced in 1959 to supersede earlier versions. The "V" likely identifies the specific shape or a modern production variation. The "Made in England" mark confirms it was produced at Spode’s historic factory in Stoke-on-Trent. This is significant because production was moved to Malaysia and China after 2006. The number 90 at the bottom indicates the year of manufacture was 1990. During this period, Spode often used a single letter or a number (like "P" or "90") to denote the year. Introduced in 1938 for the American market, the pattern was designed by Harold Holdway. Because Holdway had never seen an American-style tree, he famously placed a Santa Claus on top instead of a traditional star or angel. 11” across Good condition.
