Description
Collection of die-struck high-relief wildlife medallions depicting endangered species including timber wolf, sea otter, peregrine falcon, green turtle, and Canada goose, displayed in two glass-topped wood shadow box frames with black velvet lining. Minted by the Wittnauer Precious Metals Guild and marketed through the Longines Symphonette Society , the set was developed with technical assistance from the Sierra Club to highlight species considered endangered at the time. Issued in two primary versions—solid .925 sterling silver and 24K gold-plated sterling silver. There is also a Kennedy Mint Certificate of Authenticity (serial S 21140) signed by Thomas E. Hudgeons, Jr. which is not related to the set. Set is incomplete with several medallions missing from their slots; remaining pieces in good condition with normal wear.
