Description
A Skil Model 6340 Type 1 corded electric drill with 3/8-inch keyless chuck, manufactured by S-B Power Tool Co., Chicago, Illinois. The variable speed reversible (VSR) drill features a 3.5-amp motor with a speed range of 0–1300 RPM, double-insulated construction, and a red variable-speed trigger. S-B Power Tool Co. was a joint venture formed in 1992 between Emerson Electric Co. and Robert Bosch GmbH; Bosch acquired full ownership in 1996 and subsequently renamed the entity the Robert Bosch Tool Corporation in 2003. The "Made in USA" marking and S-B Power Tool Co. branding place manufacture circa 1992–1996, prior to the offshoring of consumer-grade Skil production to China in the early 2000s. The clamshell housing is of black textured molded plastic with steel and rubber components, secured with screws. The drill is housed in a Skil orange molded plastic carrying case with integrated bit storage compartments in the lid containing two white bit holders; completeness of the drill bit set is unconfirmed. UL Listed (file 293G) and CSA certified. Condition consistent with use: dust and debris accumulation in crevices, surface scratches and scuffs on the specification label, and general wear throughout.
