Description
Large Chinese porcelain figural sculpture depicting Shou Xing (Shou Lao), the traditional deity of longevity, rendered in brightly enameled famille rose coloration with finely detailed decoration throughout. The figure is characterized by the deity’s high domed forehead and long flowing white beard, emblematic of wisdom and long life, and is shown holding the peach of immortality in one hand and a naturalistic staff in the other, symbols of vitality, dignity, and reverence for age. His layered robes are richly adorned with intricate geometric and floral motifs in vivid tones, and the figure stands atop a sculpted base of swirling multicolored clouds. Measures approximately 22 inches high by 10 inches wide. There is some damage to the left side of Shou Xing's head under the head of the staff, but the rest of the statue is intact. Item is in fair condition.
