Description
A Chinese Famille Rose vase, which is a style of porcelain decoration that originated in the 18th century. The vase has multi-colored detailed decorations of flowers and birds. The term "Famille Rose" is French for "pink family," and the style is characterized by the use of opaque overglaze rose colors, particularly shades of pink and carmine. The colors were known in China as yangcai ("foreign colors") because they were introduced from Europe around 1685. Good condition.
