Description
A belly dance dragon scimitar, which is a modern decorative and performance sword loosely based on the traditional Sri Lankan Kastane. While it features a dragon-head pommel and ornate guard similar to the historical Sinhalese Kastane, this specific version is designed for belly dancing and stage performances. These swords are typically fully balanced, which allows dancers to perform head-balancing acts, spins, and various poses safely. Most modern replicas use stainless steel for the blade (often with a chrome finish) and cast-metal for the handle and guard. Its design cues come from the Kastane, the national sword of Sri Lanka, which was historically a highly ornamental dress sword worn by nobility as a symbol of rank. Length 35.5 inches Good condition.
